Goal
To enable organizations to achieve the goal of ‘ZERO’ failed projects (internal / external) by the right implementation of Project portfolio Management, Program Management and Project management.
To achieve this goal, PMRI will work along with their customers in taking their project management capability to level-3 (see the table below) where project management capability of the organization becomes one of it's core competitive advantages in serving their customer's needs and achieving better profitability
Four levels of organizational project management maturity
1. Ad hoc project management
- The projects manages the team.
- Most of the work is reactive in nature (fire fighting)

2. Predictive project management
- Every project has a plan
- Every project has a schedule
- Follows the organization’s defined project management guidelines
- Focus is on Plan-Do-Check-Act
- Lag indicators are monitored and corrective actions taken

3. Adaptive project management
- Project strategy is well articulated based on the type of project, customer, technology and the project team characteristics.
- Team understands the business impact of the project on the customer’s and the supplier’s business.
- Innovates and adapts the standard management processes, tools, engineering practices to suit the project needs.
- Focus is on collaboration than contract negotiation
- Focus is on speed of execution based on Plan-Do--Study-Act fast
- Lag indicators as well as lead indicators are monitored and preventive actions taken, apart from corrective actions
- The team continuously enhances it’s capability
- Within teams, the core values of commitment, focus, openness, respect and courage are promoted

4. Strategic project management
- Understands project management, product management, program management, project portfolio management
- Understands the linkage between organization’s project management strategy and the growth strategy and acts accordingly
- Understands the place of the project under execution in the customer’s project portfolio (sees the larger picture leading to additional business)
- Understands and leverages ROCE (return on capital employed), Customer loyalty, On time delivery, Process quality, Process cycle time, Employee skills

ASIMO Model
1. Assessment
- Assessment of the senior management commitment levels to implement professional project management and it's linkage to the organizational business strategy
- Assessment of the organizational structures for implementation of professional project management (PMO)
- Assessment of the project management systems within the organization
- Assessment of the skill levels of the project management teams
- Assessment of the 'passion' levels in demonstrating professional project management
Stage-1 deliverable
Strategy document for project management competency enhancement depicting;
- Where are we now?
- Goals to be achieved with time frames
- SWOT analysis for goal achievement
- Plan for achieving the goals
- Formation of the task force
- Publishing the road map at the organizational level
2. Standardization
- Standardization of the review system for comparing the goals vs actuals (stage gates)
- Defining and implementing necessary organizational structures for implementing professional project management
- Standardizing the systems and tools for effective project management
- Defining the skill set requirements for the project management function
- Defining the expected behaviors of the project management function
Stage-2 Deliverables
A set of standardized guidelines, defined organizational structures, systems and tools recommendations, training needs, alignment to other organizational systems (performance appraisals)
3. Implementation
PMRI will work along with the task force to implement the deliverables of stage-2
3. Monitoring
PMRI will conduct periodic assessment of progress Vs goals and submit recommendations
4. Optimization
PMRI will work along with the organization's project management function on a continuous improvement mode, providing the organization with global project management best practices
This methodology will be customized based on the nature of business, organizational culture, current level of PM competency.
